L&T was the top gainer on both indices, with its stock jumping over 4%, after the company reported a 2.5% rise in net profit to ₹2,072 crore for the June quarter, surpassing market expectations. Revenue grew by 5.3% year-on-year to ₹52,229 crore.

Gains in metals, real estate, and infrastructure sectors boosted market confidence, as did significant buying demand in the midcap and smallcap segments. Analysts linked the rise to confidence about the domestic earnings season, with L&T's success serving as a primary trigger.

Traders were cautious ahead of key global events such as the US Federal Reserve's policy statement and updates on the India-US trade war, which might influence short-term market patterns.

On Friday, both the Sensex and Nifty rose slightly, continuing their recovery from last week's lows.
