The actor said to Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel in response to the question of whether he was hesitant to disclose their relationship, “I think we were both aligned on the fact that if we like to spend time together and if we like each other, then there is no need to hide this. It takes a lot of effort to hide a relationship. You cannot go out together; your friends cannot click your photos. I don’t like such restrictions. It wasn’t like I wanted to be out there, but I just didn’t want to be caged. I didn’t want to cage my feelings.”

He claimed that even though everyone is aware of their connection, there are still several private aspects to their relationship. "I have over 5,000 pictures of the two of us together, but they aren't posted on social media because they belong to us both."

When asked if it troubles him that his relationship sometimes takes priority over his career, Vijay responded, “Today, in our society, everybody is interested in other people’s lives. Sabke andar ek bua baithi hai, who only wants to discuss this relationship. This has become a disease, and you can’t do anything about it. I can’t change that. As far as my work is concerned, I receive appreciation for it after it is released. I cannot deny that.”

Tamannaah Bhatia and Vijay Varma revealed their romance around the time Lust Stories 2 was released in 2023. It was their first collaboration together. Rumors about their romance began after the couple were seen enjoying New Year's in Goa months before the release of Lust Stories 2.
