Summary: Since her 2019 film "Manikarnika," Kangana Ranaut has not experienced theatrical success, and her latest venture, "Tejas," has incurred a substantial loss exceeding Rs 50 crore.

The theatrical dry spell continues for Kangana Ranaut, with her recent release "Tejas" adding to the string of disappointments. Despite a low-key promotion and lukewarm word-of-mouth post-release, the film, backed by Ronnie Screwvala, has incurred a staggering loss surpassing Rs 50 crore, according to Bollywood Hungama.

Hitting theaters on October 27, "Tejas" managed to muster only Rs 4.25 crore during its entire theatrical run. With a production cost of Rs 70 crore, the film struggled to make a mark at the domestic box office, earning a mere Rs 70 lakh internationally. The financial setback was substantial for the producers, especially considering the sale of OTT, satellite, and music rights for Rs 17 crore. Despite distributors raking in Rs 2.23 crore from box office collections, the overall financial performance of the film fell short of expectations.

The producers have managed to recoup only Rs 19.23 crore from the film, resulting in a cumulative loss of Rs 50.77 crore.

Kangana Ranaut's recent film, "Dhaakad," faced a similar fate at the box office, marking another disappointment for the actress. According to reports, the producers of "Dhaakad" incurred a substantial loss of Rs 78.72 crore. Produced by Deepak Mukut and Sohel Maklai, with co-production by Hunar Mukut, the film only managed to garner Rs 2.58 crore during its entire domestic box office run.

Kangana Ranaut has not tasted success in cinemas since the 2019 hit "Manikarnika," which grossed Rs 92.19 crore. Subsequent releases, "Judgemental Hai Kya" and "Panga," earned Rs 33.11 crore and Rs 28.92 crore, respectively. During the pandemic, her multilingual Jayalalithaa biopic had a limited box office impact, managing only Rs 1.46 crore.

Kangana Ranaut is set to portray Indira Gandhi in her upcoming film "Emergency," a project she is also directing. Originally slated for a November release, the film has been rescheduled and is now expected to hit screens in 2024.
