The BCCI and PCB Provide Consent for Following Hybrid Model for Asia Cup 2023, Schedule Announcement on 14 July
The schedule for Asia Cup 2023 will be made public on 14 July 2023. Also, BCCI and PCB have agreed to go ahead with the hybrid model after several deliberations. Earlier, India was in no mood to accept India playing any game in Pakistan or agree to the suggestion by the PCB. However, this has changed. The much-anticipated Asia Cup 2023 schedule is expected to be revealed this week, despite numerous rumors and debates.
As per the hybrid mode, the venue for the four matches will be Pakistan. And the remaining matches will happen in Sri Lanka. The event of consent occurred after Zaka Ashraf and Jay Shah met in Durban while attending the ICC meeting. According to a report, the timetable will be revealed on July 14. The hybrid format, in which four matches are played in Pakistan and the remaining ones are played in Sri Lanka, has been approved by both boards (PCB and BCCI).
Ashraf said to the Pakistan media that it is a good beginning. Also, there is the possibility of such meetings in the future. The agreement of having more meetings is with the intention to improve relations with the neighbor in terms of sports and cricket. However, the piece of news where Pakistan media claims Jay Shah the BCCI secretary agreed to an invitation by PCB chief Zaka Ashraf to come to Pakistan, is false.
A BCCI source has revealed that they had talked about the hybrid model during the Asia Cup. This led to the consent of both parties on the hybrid model. However, there was no truth behind any such invitation ensuing from either PCB or BCCI in this matter.
