KKR vs SRH: KKR reach the finals; Gautam Gambhir’s celebration goes viral
Summary: Kolkata Knight Riders defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Qualifiers, Gautam Gambhir’s celebration goes viral
It was IPL 2024 Qualifier match 1 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad, where KKR defeated SRH. Gautam Gambhir was thrilled watching the KKR’s spinners destroy the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batting lineup. The live cameras caught Gambhir at his fiery best in the dugout, enjoying the Knight Riders bowlers' performances in this crucial game.
Mitchell Starc shined with a brilliant three-wicket early burst as KKR dismissed SRH for a below-par 159, with Gambhir spotted celebrating enthusiastically in the dugout.
"When people talk about it, he doesn't smile. He does not love. He is typically intense. He is constantly grumpy. He's always walking on the brink. He is old. He's always got his game face on. People do not come to see me smile. Unfortunately, they came to see me win. That is the type of profession we have. I can't help it," Gambhir recently told Ashwin on his YouTube chat show, 'Kutti Stories with Ash'.
Starc's opening spell of 3-0-22-3 gave KKR control of the game, while the other bowlers thrived in the situation for the victory.
With SRH down to 39/3, Rahul Tripathi (55 off 35) staged a counterattack, but it wasn't enough. Tripathi took the pressure successfully to keep the boundaries coming for SRH, but he did not get enough backing from the other end, except for a 62-run partnership with Heinrich Klaasen.
There was no end to SRH struggles after Tripathi got run out by Andre Russell, even when there were no chances of runs on the pitch. Andre caught him halfway through the pitch, and after that, SRH went downhill.
Abdul Samad hit a six on his first ball, but he too could not do much, and lastly, impact player Sanvir Singh got bowled on his first ball by Sunil Narine. Though the skipper, Pat Cummins, played a crucial knock of 30 off 24 balls, it could not help SRH reach the finals.
