Aliya is accused of killing her 35-year-old ex-boyfriend Edward Jacobs and his 33-year-old female companion Anastasia "Star" Ettienne. If stories from the media are to be accepted, Aliya is so envious that she sets the garage on fire. Tragically, the victims suffered heat burns and smoke inhalation, causing their deaths.
Aliya Fakhri arrived at the garage early on November 2 and shouted at Jacobs, "You're all going to die today." Jacobs was asleep at the time of the incident.
According to a news release from the office of District Attorney Melinda Katz, a witness heard her voice and came out to see the building was on fire.
As reported by news portals, Aliya's mother feels that her daughter's opiate addiction after a dental accident may have had a role in Aliya's actions.
"I don’t think she would be killing someone. She was a person who was caring for everybody. She tried to help everybody," her mother said.
However, Jacob's mother disclosed that he and Aliya had split up a year ago, but her efforts to get back with him continued. She also claimed that Jacobs was a plumber who was transforming a garage into an apartment on a property.
