Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan will not play for MI next year, predicts the ex-Indian player

Summary: The ex-Indian player made the prediction that Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan would not be playing for MI in the next IPL season.

Aakash Chopra, the former Indian opener, believes Rohit Sharma will not play for the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming IPL season, following what transpired at the franchise in the previous season. At the start of the IPL 2024, Rohit was fired as captain, and the team was led by the returning Hardik Pandya.

Throughout the season, speculation swirled that the mood in MI's dressing room was worsening following the leadership switch. Rohit will now head the national team, with Pandya serving as vice captain, in the upcoming ICC event.

Meanwhile, Rohit had a solid IPL 2024 season with the bat, scoring 417 runs at an average of 32.07 and a strike rate of 150. He scored a century and a half, with his highest score being an undefeated 105.

Despite great expectations, MI's performance plummeted under Rohit's leadership, ending up last in the points table. From what Chopra said, the five-time champs are planning major changes for the upcoming season, which could result in Ishan Kishan's departure.

"I believe they'll let Ishan Kishan go. They might play the 'Right to Match' card since 15.5 crores is simply too much money. "I don't think Ishan will be retained," the former India cricketer stated on his YouTube channel.

And for Rohit Sharma, he boldly claimed, "I think this was Rohit’s last match for the Mumbai Indians, whether he doesn't want to be retained or the franchise lets him go.".

"Either way, I see them on different paths. I don't think Rohit Sharma will wear the Mumbai Indians jersey again. That's simply my understanding. I could be wrong, but I feel, any which way, Rohit Sharma would not be playing for the Mumbai Indians for the next IPL season."
