The Delhi Capitals won their first match of the season against the Chennai Super Kings at Visakhapatnam on Sunday. DC overcame CSK by 20 runs for their first IPL 2024 victory, while also delivering the defending champions their first loss of the season.

Chasing a 192-run mark, CSK suffered setbacks by pacers Khaleel Ahmed (2/21) and Mukesh Kumar (3/21), chasing a 192-run target, ultimately finishing at 171 for six. Ajinkya Rahane (45 off 30 balls), Daryl Mitchell (34 off 26 balls), and MS Dhoni (37 not out off 16 balls) all tried their hardest, but DC bowlers were on point this night. Earlier in the inning, skipper Rishabh Pant and veteran opener David Warner both scored fifties, leading the Delhi Capitals to 191 for five. This was Pant’s first fifty of this season. 

Legendary player MS Dhoni of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) turned back time with a fun cameo in Sunday's IPL 2024 encounter against the Delhi Capitals (DC). Although it was a losing cause, Dhoni, who batted for the first time this season, hammered an unbeaten 37 off just 16 balls, striking at a pace of over 231. 

In the last over, the former captain of CSK hit Anrich Nortje for 20, but his team was still several runs away from DC's total. In the first two games against CSK, Dhoni did not bat; but, in the third game, he gave his fans a cause for celebration.

Despite Dhoni's outstanding batting and CSK's impressive performance, DC won the match by 20 runs.
