Jemimah Rodrigues misses the 4th T20I against Sri Lanka due to illness
Summary: Indian player Jemimah Rodrigues sat out the fourth women’s T20I after falling sick.
Indian women’s cricket team batter Jemimah Rodrigues was not part of the Playing XI in the fourth T20I against Sri Lanka because she was ruled out due to illness, officials confirmed ahead of the match in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
Team captain Harmanpreet Kaur explained at the toss that Rodrigues was unavailable because she was feeling unwell, and that medical staff were monitoring her recovery. As a result, Harleen Deol came into the side in her place, with Kranti Gaud also rested and Arundhati Reddy returning to the XI.
Rodrigues has been one of India’s key batters in the series so far, contributing important runs, but a mild fever and subsequent weakness kept her out of this match. The team has opted not to rush her back, giving room for the player to recuperate fully.
India, already with a secure lead in the five-match series, used this opportunity to test bench strength and give other players a chance to shine. With the series sewn up, the fourth game provided a platform to rotate personnel and manage workloads as India builds toward future contests.
Fans will be hoping Rodrigues recovers quickly and is back in action for the final T20I later in the series.
