Ms Dhoni avoids handshake with RCB players, Experts have a say

Summary: Ms. Dhoni does not shake hands with RCB players after their massive win in the playoffs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore secured a spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs with a thrilling victory over the Chennai Super Kings. From being at the end of the points table to being qualified for the playoffs, this is a massive achievement for RCB.

RCB and the fans of the team were on an emotional rollercoaster throughout the IPL 2024 season. RCB had no hopes of reaching the playoffs, but their extreme determination and intense desire to reach the finals paid off with five consecutive wins.

But amidst the celebrations also lie the controversies. During the last IPL match between the defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, it seemed that MS Dhoni was not happy with RCB players after the match during the customary handshake, as he went back to the dressing room without greeting RCB players.

Social media videos showed Dhoni waiting for the RCB players to finish their celebrations before making his way to the dressing room without shaking hands. Virat Kohli later accompanied him inside to speak with him.

Now this created a buzz on social media, among commentators and some cricket experts. During a discussion, former England captain Michael Vaughn said, "I can see it in the RCB team. They receive a lot of support, but they also repel people. We witnessed a lot of that tonight. I understand that they have never won the IPL and have only made it to the final stage. However, you want to be something other than one of those teams that everyone wants to lose."

Famous commentator Harsha Bhogle also joined the discussion, saying, “I haven't seen the images, but that doesn't matter. You can win the World Cup final. You express your emotions while still shaking hands with the opponent. It is one of the best elements of our game. It represents the end of our combative relationship. We never gave each other a chance, but our feud is done. It was just a game, and we're now shaking hands. Then return and rejoice.”
