Yashasvi Jaiswal Scores the Fastest Half-Century in the History of IPL in 13 Balls against KKR

Talking about power strokes, welcome Yashasvi Jaiswal, the new holder of the fastest half-century not just for this edition of the Indian Premier League, but in the entire history of IPL till date in a game on Thursday against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Jaiswal, the opening batsman, took only 13 deliveries to meet the feat and beat down the last record of the fastest 50 runs scored by Pat Cummins and KL Rahul. In the first over itself, Yashasvi scored 26 runs, a wonderstruck moment for everyone on the field.

Yashasvi Jaiswal took Knight Riders on a literal ride as the team chased a 150-run target in Kolkata. The match was held at Eden Gardens, where Jaiswal left Nitish Rana, the captain, bewildered by smashing 6,6,4,4,2,4 within the inning’s first 6 balls. Though Rajasthan Royals lost the Jos Buttler early in the second over, the wicket loss made no difference as Jaiswal opened with a steady attack from the start of the game.

Jaiswal created an uproar in the audience with a hat-trick of fours in the over bowled by Shardul Thakur. To score his half-century, it took the batsmen only 7 fours and 3 sixes. In the last edition of the tournament, it was Pat Cummins to have hit a 14-run half-century against Mumbai Indians. KL Rahul who played for the current Punjab Kings, previously known as Kings XI Punjab, had the same record against Delhi Capitals, previously recalled Delhi Daredevils, with the same figures.

This season of the Indian Premier League is proving to be splendid for Yashasvi Jaiswal. In the 2023 edition of IPL, the 21-year-old opener has scored 477 in 11 innings and is on the list of highest run scorers. Also, he has a strike rate of 160.60, pretty impressive indeed with the possibility of making it to the national team. In the IPL 2023 table, Rajasthan Royals are in the fifth position presently. They have the remaining 3 games in the season, which also includes a face-off with Knight Riders.
