Rohit Sharma finally addresses the rift on him losing the Mumbai Indians captaincy to Hardik Pandya

Summary: Rohit Sharma gives a verdict on his dismissal as MI captain. Says "It's a part of life."

Rohit Sharma breaks his silence on losing the Mumbai Indians captaincy to Hardik Pandya for the IPL 2024 tournament. Rohit Sharma has led MI for 10 years and is one of the most successful captains in IPL history.

After five months of controversy, Indian captain Rohit Sharma finally opened up on the issue during a press conference with Ajit Agarkar on India's squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

"You don't always get what you want, but I'm happy. I've previously played under several captains. My current focus is on my game and what I can do for the team," he stated.

Though he was dissatisfied with the captaincy issue, Rohit Sharma did not hide his emotions. He said playing without the captaincy was nothing new, given the many years of his career under different captains.

"I was captain once, then wasn't, and then was named captain again. It's a part of life. It's not different for me; leading MI has been a terrific experience, but now I'm looking forward to how I can perform as a player," he said.

There has been a lot of speculation about Rohit's connection with Pandya and how the Mumbai Indians handled the leadership issue, which many believe wasn't handled well, especially since it involves someone who has led the franchise to five IPL titles.

"Whatever is there, you go along with it and then try to do what is expected of you as a player. I've only tried to do that in the last month or so," Rohit said, putting out any flames that the questioning could have started.
