Virat Kohli’s stunning knock against PBKS: Gives it back to Rilee Russouw, mimicking his gun-shot celebration

Summary: RCB still has hope of reaching the playoffs with Virat Kohli’s outstanding knock on Thursday against PBKS.

Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to 241/7 in 20 overs with a brilliant 92 off 47 deliveries. The Punjab Kings were smashed away for 181 in response, and RCB won by 60 runs. RCB's fourth straight victory kept them in contention for a position in the IPL 2024 playoffs. PBKS, meanwhile, has been eliminated.

The RCB players delivered an outstanding effort in Dharamsala, setting a good target of 241 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli's 92 from 47 balls maintained the game in good order. The Orange Cap-holder smashed seven fours and six sixes, but in the 18th over, PBKS's Arshdeep Singh dismissed Kohli, missing out on his century. Cameron Green and Rajat Patidar also put good scores on the board, with 46 off 27 balls and 55 off 23 balls.

Kohli, who smashed 92 runs off 47 balls in the game, became the first batsman in IPL history to reach 1000 runs against three opponents. He had already done it against DC and CSK.

Virat Kohli also made headlines for the dismissal of Punjab Kings batter Rilee Russouw during the match. Rilee Russouw had celebrated his 50th with a gun-shot celebration. Mimicking his action, Kohli also celebrated Russouw’s dismissal with a gunshot. This clearly indicates the competitive spirit between the two players.

Speaking of PBKS' innings, the RCB bowlers were fantastic to dismiss Punjab for just 181 runs and secure a 60-run victory yesterday. Mohammed Siraj took three wickets, while Swapnil Singh, Kockie Ferguson, and Karn Sharma had two wickets each.

Openers Prabhsimran Singh and Jonny Bairstow failed to make an impact, scoring only 6 off 4 balls and 27 off 16 balls, respectively. Rilee Rossouw scored 61 off 27 balls, Shashank Singh scored 37 off 19 balls, and Sam Curran scored 22 off 16 balls. Apart from them, none of the players managed to make a huge impact.
