Virat Kohli to Miss the Next Three Test Matches As Well: Updates on KL Rahul, Bumrah, Jadeja and Siraj
Summary: India’s Squad for the next three test matches will be announced soon. Virat Kohli is likely to miss these matches as well. A good news for KL Rahul and Jadeja fans.
The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) senior men’s selection committee led by the former pacer Ajit Agarkar is all set to meet in a couple of days to announce India’s squad for the upcoming three test matches against England. Head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma are likely to be present during the selection meeting.
During the last of the second test match, captain Rohit Sharma and former pacer Ajit Agarkar had a very long chat right after India’s win against England in Visakhapatnam. The selection meeting won’t be an easy one as there are still complications to be solved, most importantly the absence of ace player Virat Kohli, who also missed the two former test matches in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam against England.
He is likely to miss the third and fourth test match as well, and it's still doubtful if he will play in the fifth test match in Dharamsala. Virat Kohli took this decision due to personal issues and already discussed it with the captain Rohit Sharma. But with India's win hanging on the low thread, selectors are waiting for Virat Kohli’s final decision for the fifth and final test match against England.
With another big player Mohammed Shami, the veteran fast bowler, is still in recovery for his ankle injury he suffered at the time of ODI world cup. But there is some good news as well. Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul who missed the second test match against England due to their injuries are likely to play for the third test match. KL Rahul was suffering from quadriceps injury, while Jadeja had a hamstring injury, they both are in National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Though the NCA hasn’t given their final report to BCCI on both Jadeja and Rahul, reports say they are almost recovered and will be able to play in the next test match. While the pacer Mohammed Siraj is all set to return to the field. He was released for the second test match but now will be back. Siraj might be replacing Mukesh Kumar, who struggled during the last test match.
Earlier the reports stated that Bumrah might be rested for the third test match, but since India is at its crucial point, resting Bumrah would be a poor decision, so he will surely be in the squad.
The series is currently locked at 1-1, so the third test match is very crucial for India. A win at this stage would be a benefit for India.
