Early on during the promotions of Laapata Ladies, Aamir Khan had spoken about Sitaare Zameen Par, “I have started shooting for my upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par from February 1. It is the next level of Taare Zameen Par, it is like part 2. It is not the same story and the characters are also not the same.”

He also said, “It has the same theme but the difference is, unlike Taare Zameen Par, which left you in tears, Sitaare Zameen Par will leave you in laughter. Prasanna is directing the movie and it is an entertaining film. We are looking at the same topic but with a different perspective.” Aamir took a one-year gap after Laal Singh Chaddha, which failed to capture the audience.

Even at the screening of Salaam Venky in 2022, where Aamir Khan played a cameo he has said, “I am not doing anything. For the last few years, I have been working continuously, now I want to spend some time with my family. Paani foundation ka bhi kaam chal raha hai, aur bhi thoda kaam chal raha hai, so after a year I will come back to acting.”
