Air India to introduce the Airbus A350 900 on the Delhi-London Heathrow route

Summary: Beginning on September 1, Air India will operate two daily flights on the Delhi-London Heathrow route using Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

Air India began service on the Delhi-London Heathrow route with its brand-new Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The 'new Air India' is being introduced on long-haul flights with this twice-daily service.

So far, the Tata Group carrier has only operated internal flights and the quick international route from Delhi to Dubai using the A350 aircraft, which it used to debut its new brand identity and upgraded product this year.

The primary purpose of these operations was to prepare the aircraft for long-haul flight operations. Because of the aircraft's extended range, Air India is currently able to fly flights to the majority of global markets.

The three-class arrangement of the Air India A350 cabin product offers full-flat beds in Business, a brand-new Premium Economy experience, and the newest seats in Economy. The latest in-flight entertainment system on the aircraft provides over 3000 hours of entertainment content. Soon, on-board Wi-Fi will be added to this system.

According to information on the Airbus website, the A350-900 can accommodate 300–350 passengers and has a flight range of more than 15,000 km. It offers 316 seats: 264 in economy class, 24 in premium economy, and 28 in business class.

Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India, said, “The deployment of the flagship A350s on the Delhi-London Heathrow route marks a significant milestone for Air India. It demonstrates Air India’s commitment to elevating the travel experience of our guests to truly world-class standards and to going beyond just meeting customer expectations as we continue to grow and renew our fleet.”

Earlier this year, new soft products and upgrades were announced for Air India's A350 flights. For Business and Premium Economy travelers, these include redesigned amenity packages, new bedding, new dinnerware, and glassware.

The present Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner will be replaced by the A350-900 on 14 of the 17 weekly trips. The Delhi-London Heathrow route will thereby have an extra 336 seats available per week.
