BSNL has installed 35,000 4G towers in India to reach the goal of 1 lakh by 2025.
Summary: BSNL is all set to install 1 lakh 4G towers in India by mid-2025.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) plans to deploy 1 lakh 4G towers by mid-2025. The deadline for this was the end of fiscal year 2024-25. However, it has now been pushed forward.
Indian telecom minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said BSNL would build 1 lakh 4G towers by June 2025. This would imply that the state-run telco will meet its aim in the fiscal year 2025–26.
BSNL has launched 35000 4G facilities in India. The telecom operator intends to build one lakh such towers by mid-2025. India's Union Telecom Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia, stated that BSNL has already launched 35000 4G stations. The minister confirmed that by June 2025, the firm will have completed 1 lakh towers.
The most recent update came several weeks ago, stating that over 25000 4G towers had been put up. Previously, BSNL was expected to install 75000 sites by Diwali 2024.
India is striving to establish its own 4G network. No other Indian cellular operator has done this previously. BSNL is the first company to do this. While Jio built its own 5G stack, its 4G originated from third-party vendors like Samsung.
BSNL also set up 4G at 14,500 feet in Phobrang, Ladakh, according to IndiaTV. It's worth recalling that Airtel was the first operator to roll out 4G in the region. TelecomTalk was unable to independently verify the information provided by IndiaTV because the telecom department had not disclosed or shared any such information.
Vodafone Idea will also maintain track as network upgrades and rollouts begin in the following year. Scindia added that the 1 lakh 4G towers will improve mobile services and potentially bring new services.
