Delhi CM: BJP Appoints Rekha Gupta as the New CM of Delhi.

Summary: BJP chose Rekha Gupta as Delhi CM, know why?

Despite being a new Member of Parliament, Rekha Gupta has a lengthy political career. She was appointed Chief Minister of Delhi on Wednesday. BJP can try to gain points by choosing her over other well-known contenders, including the giant slayer Parvesh Verma who himself suggested her name for the post of Chief Minister of Delhi.

Gupta, 50, won the Shalimar Bagh seat by a margin of approximately 30,000 votes in the recent Delhi Assembly Elections. On her campaign website, the BJP leader employs "Kaam hi Pehchaan," meaning ‘My work is my identity’.

Among the contestants were Parvesh Verma, who overcame Delhi BJP general secretary Ashish Sood, former Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, Satish Upadhyay, Jitendra Mahajan, and AAP president Arvind Kejriwal.

On Thursday at around noon, Gupta and six other ministers will take the oath of office in Ramlila Maidan in Delhi.
