Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram Are Back After The Worldwide Outage

Summary: Yesterday night, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook were out, but now they are restored.

According to Meta, 99 percent of the problem is fixed, and it is currently conducting some last-minute checks on Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook.

On Wednesday, hundreds of people worldwide could not communicate or use WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook. Meta said they attempted to repair the technical issue and performed some last tests after most users reported they could use the social networking services again.

Around 11 p.m. (IST), more than 50,000 Facebook users reported troubles with logging in, uploading posts, and changing existing content, according to the outage tracking website DownDetector. Instagram was down for over 23,000 users, with many unable to access or update their postings.

Meta on X said, “Thanks for bearing with us! We're 99% of the way there - just doing some last checks. We apologize to those who've been affected by the outage.”

According to outage-tracking site Downdetector, over 22,000 people reported troubles with Facebook on Wednesday evening, while over 18,000 failed to access WhatsApp.

The issues started at 10:58 p.m. when users were unable to log in to Facebook and upload posts. Also, people weren’t able to communicate via Instagram and WhatsApp. Sending and receiving messages became difficult as the apps crashed.

Once the problems were solved, the apps tweeted on X:

“And we're back, happy chatting!” tweeted WhatsApp.

Instagram tweeted, “Andddd we're back - sorry for the wait, and thanks for bearing with us.”
