Heatwaves Issued: IMD issued a warning for Goa, Bengaluru, and Mumbai; Delhi-NCR is given a break.

Summary: The IMD issued a heatwave warning for numerous states, including cities in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Goa.

In its most recent weather forecast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for several Indian states, including Maharashtra, North Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and West Bengal. The IMD has issued a separate heatwave warning for Maharashtra towns such as Thane, Mumbai, and Raigad this week.

In Maharashtra, the minimum temperature in Mumbai and Thane is likely to be 36 to 38 degrees Celsius, while North Goa is expected to see blazing temperatures on April 15 and 16. Odisha is also likely to suffer extreme conditions between April 15 and 19.

Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are also expecting high temperatures, according to the IMD forecast. Heatwave conditions are expected in both states from April 16 to 18, raising concerns among locals.

A heatwave notice has also been issued in West Bengal, where temperatures are predicted to surge from April 17 to 19. A yellow alert was issued in several districts across Kerala, including Kollam, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Thiruvananthapuram. Kerala regions such as Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Kasargod are all expected to face high temperatures this week.

According to the latest weather forecast, Delhi and other NCR cities will see some relief from the sweltering heat this week, with pleasant weather expected in most locations. The IMD predicts cloudy skies on April 16, with high surface winds reaching 20 to 25 kmph during the day in the national capital. The highest and lowest temperatures are expected to reach 35 and 22 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Light rainfall and thunderstorms are expected to hit portions of Delhi and the NCR, including Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad, over the next couple of days, lowering the city's temperature.

Meanwhile, the IMD issued a nowcast warning for thunderstorms with lightning, light to moderate rain, and strong winds in Thane during the next 3 to 4 hours between Monday and Tuesday, providing some relief from the district's scorching conditions.
