2025 MG Astor with hybrid power debuted globally; will it come to India?
Summary: MG Motors has finally unveiled their all-new ZS Hybrid+, or MS Astor as we call it in India.
In keeping up with the brand's global design philosophy, the new MG ZS has a sportier look than the previous model. This comprises a redesigned back bumper, new LED tail lights, a fresh, larger black mesh front grille, sleek LED headlamps on either side, a new front bumper, updated alloy wheels, and an overall upright stance.
Across the globe, the ZS is available as Hybrid+, while here in India it is available in two variants: the ZS EV, which is an all-electric variant, and the Astor, which is an ICE variant.
The exterior:
With a more dynamic front and a redesigned big grille, broader and vertically shaped air dampers, and a full-width light bar connecting the headlamp cluster that also houses slim LED DRLs, the MG logo has been repositioned above the grille.
The interior:
The revamped interior of the 2025 MG Astor includes a plethora of new amenities and technology, along with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster.
It has a 360-degree camera, a 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat with lumbar support, rear privacy glass, heated front seats and steering wheel, leather interior, keyless entry, automated headlights, and many other features.
It also has a vertical wireless charging pad. The center console's two cupholders and gear lever have also been redesigned by MG. With technologies like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and active emergency braking, among others, the new Astor also has a Level 2 ADAS safety package.
The 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that powers the 2025 MG Astor (ZS in the global market) generates 250 Nm and 101 BHP on its own. But when combined with a 1.83 kWh battery pack and a 100 kW electric motor, the powertrain's total output rises to 192 BHP and 343 Nm.
MG Astor Hybrid in India?
Possibly launching the revised Astor in 2025, JSW-MG Motor India will be competing with vehicles that also offer a powerful hybrid as an alternative, such as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The estimated ex-showroom pricing of the MG Astor Hybrid upon arrival is approximately ₹20 lakh.
