Pakistan Moves Troops to Forward Areas, Signaling Escalation Intent: India
Summary: India notes Pakistan moving troops forward, signaling rising tensions, while it stays ready and committed to proportional responses.
Tensions between India and Pakistan are rising again. On Friday, Indian officials announced that Pakistan has begun deploying its troops towards advanced areas, implying that the situation will develop further.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, speaking at an MEA briefing, said, “We’ve noticed Pakistani forces moving closer to the borders, which reflects their intention to fuel further tension.”
Despite the provocation, India has chosen a steady and strategic stance. “Our armed forces are fully prepared and have responded proportionately to all aggressive actions,” Singh assured. “But our stand is clear—we don’t want escalation, as long as Pakistan shows the same restraint.”
Singh also revealed that Pakistan launched a high-speed missile targeting an airbase in Punjab and carried out attacks on medical facilities in Srinagar, Avantipora, and Udhampur.
Colonel Sofia Qureshi, speaking the next day, confirmed that India had given a “befitting reply” to these strikes. She said Pakistan used drones, long-range weapons, loitering munitions, and fighter jets to hit several Indian military locations. “They infiltrated via air in over 26 locations and caused damage to our bases in Udhampur, Bhuj, Pathankot, and Bathinda,” she added.
Worryingly, Pakistan didn’t just go after military targets—it also attacked health centres and schools in Indian-administered Kashmir.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri summed it up by calling Pakistan’s actions “provocative” but emphasized that India’s reaction was “measured and responsible.
