PM Modi Leads Unity Day Celebrations in Gujarat, Honouring Sardar Patel’s Legacy

Summary: On National Unity Day, PM Modi holds a big parade in Kevadia to honor Sardar Patel's ideas.

Kevadia, Gujarat, was alive with patriotic energy today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in celebrating Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) — an annual event honouring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s Iron Man and the architect of national integration.

The event, held at the Statue of Unity, began with PM Modi paying floral tributes to Sardar Patel. He then administered the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Pledge’, urging citizens to uphold unity and integrity across the country.

The activities included a unity parade, influenced by the Republic Day pattern, with contingents, marching bands, and scenes from many states, all themed "Unity in Diversity."

The special march with the Rampur and Mudhol Hounds, two native dog breeds from the BSF, shows India's growing desire to be independent and its pride in its own power.

People all around India took part in Run for Unity marathons, school activities, and cultural events to commemorate the anniversary.

PM Modi, in his address, reminded the nation of Sardar Patel’s unmatched role in bringing together over 500 princely states after Independence, saying that Patel’s vision of “One India, Strong India” continues to guide the country’s path today. The day wasn’t just about tribute — it carried a reminder.

Amid changing political and social landscapes, the call for unity feels more relevant than ever. As PM Modi said, the best way to honor Sardar Patel is to "stay united and work together for the nation's strength."
