PM Modi to Inaugurate AIIMS, Guwahati Along with 3 Medical Colleges and Several Developmental Projects
Prime Minister Narendra Modi be at AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) today at Guwahati in its inaugural ceremony. He will also dedicate three other medical colleges and AIIMs Guwahati to the country, and inspect the campus. The PM will also launch the campaign – Aapke Dwar Ayushman and distribute AB-PMJAY (Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana) cards to those who qualify as beneficiaries. Shri. Modi Ji will also lay the foundation stone of AAHII (Assam Advanced Health Care Innovation Institute).
The PM will be at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati as well to attend the program to celebrate the platinum Jubilee Celebrations of the Guwahati High Court. The AIIMS, Guwahati will be an important event in the history of not just Assam but the North-East region on the whole as it is also a signal of improved health infrastructure in the nation. In May 2017, it was PM Modi himself who laid the foundation stone of the hospital. The same is built at worth Rs. 1120 crores. The hospital is equipped with 30 AYUSH beds and 750 other beds.
The hospital will contain world-class facilities with the ability to take in 100 MBBS students annually. The other three medical colleges in question are Kokrajhar Medical College in Kokrajhar, Nagaon Medical College in Nagaon, and Nalbari Medical College in Nalbari. These were built at a cost of Rs. 535 crores, Rs. 600 crores, and Rs. 615 crores, respectively. These colleges individually each have an attached 500 beds comprising teaching hospitals. And these serve emergency services, IPD/OPD services, diagnostic and OT facilities, ICU facilities, and more.
Again, the three medical colleges also can take in 100 MBBS students every year. The Aapke Dwar Ayushman campaign will focus on reaching beneficiaries to receive welfare schemes, while the distribution of AB-PMJAY cards will go to initially three representative beneficiaries. Thereafter the cards will be given to around 1.1 crore eligible beneficiaries in all the districts of the state. With the motto of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of AAHII for healthcare.
AAHII was built within Rs. 546 crore and will serve the need for R&D in healthcare and medicine, along with technological inventions to identify and solve health-related problems in India. In the evening, the PM will be at Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati to witness a Bihu program in a public function where 10,000 Bihu dancers and performers will be present. And PM will lay the foundation stone and dictate different development projects such as the Brahmaputra River connecting Palashbari and Sualkuchi, the 500 TPD Menthol Plant in Namrup, five railway projects, and the beautification of Rang Ghar, Sivasagar.
