Stock Market updates: Sensex goes flat, Nifty drops

Summary: On Wednesday, the Sensex and Nifty reflected a muted trend with a cautious trading session.

The Sensex and Nifty started Wednesday's trading session with caution, mirroring a lackluster trend in Asian markets.

At 24,170, the NSE Nifty 50 average was lower by 20 points. The Sensex went up by 117 points, or 0.2%, at 80,121 but quickly went down to a low of 79,879, which is a loss of over 100 points.

The US stocks recorded a high; in the meantime, the Asian markets performed in a mixed manner. President Donald Trump recently announced imposing greater tariffs on China, affecting the market mood.

The Hang Seng, Taiwan, and Straits Times saw minor rises, while the Nikkei, Shanghai Composite, and Kospi declined by 0.7%.

Ahead of the US Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) minutes and third-quarter GDP statistics, the Dow Jones in the US jumped more than 650 points from the day's low to end at a record high, up 124 points. Both the NASDAQ and the S&P 500 saw a 0.5% increase.

Following news of a truce between Israel and Hezbollah, crude oil prices dropped slightly. Brent crude fell to $72 per barrel, while crude futures fell below $68 per barrel. The gold price remains stable at $2,650.
