Stock Market Updates: Sensex and Nifty are on roll today, and both have jumped higher.

Summary: The domestic equity markets began the day higher, rising for the second consecutive day. 


The local equities markets began trading higher on Wednesday, with the BSE Sensex rising 289 points to 76,188 and the NSE Nifty adding 85 points to 23,042, marking the second consecutive day of gains.

 

Bajaj Auto, Infosys, Cipla, Hero MotoCorp, and BEL were among the biggest gainers among the 50 Nifty members, rising as much as 4.67 percent in morning trading. The losers were Nestle India, Britannia, HDFC Life, Tata Consumers, and JSW Steel. 

 

Both midcap and smallcap stocks took part in the rise; the latter is up a noteworthy 650 points, while the former has jumped by more than 1.5%.

 

With gains of 1.59% and 1.54%, respectively, media and IT companies led the way sector-wise. Auto stocks gained 0.92% as well. While the FMCG index was the sole sector in the red, down 0.38%, other market indices, including Nifty Bank, Financial Services, Metal, Pharma, PSU Bank, Private Bank, Realty, Healthcare, Consumer Durables, and Oil, also saw advances.

 

The NSE Nifty50 and the BSE Sensex ended Tuesday's trading session higher. The 30-share Sensex finished up 535.24 points, or 0.71%, at 75,901.41. For the day, the index varied from 78,512.96 to 78,622.88.

 

At 22,957.25, the NSE Nifty50 also closed higher, rising 128.10 points, or 0.56%. During the session, the index hit a top of 23,137.95 and a low of 22,857.65.
