Microsoft Plans to Integrate OpenAI Tech into Bing Search Engine

Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) plans to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create a modern version of its search engine, Bing. The AI in question is one of OpenAI's launched chatbots ChatGPT. The information came from a direct source that has knowledge of the plans. Supposedly, by the end of March, Microsoft may launch this new feature and challenge the search engine Google (GOOGL.O), owned by Alphabet. It is a technology news website based in San Francisco.

In a blog post last year, Microsoft reported that it has plans to reform Bing by integrating the image-generation software from OpenAI, DALL-E 2. However, Microsoft and OpenAI have declined to comment. In 2019, Microsoft supported the idea of OpenAI, the San Francisco-based artificial intelligence company. It had then provided funding worth $1 billion.

To keep developing artificial intelligence, both companies entered into a multi-year partnership to innovate AI supercomputing technologies, especially using the Azure cloud computing service of Microsoft. To put it in simple words, OpenAI technology creates custom art and images based on prompts from people or the way people describe the image in their own plainspoken language.

On 30 November, Open AI made available to the public the ChatGPT, its latest creation for free testing. This software application is a chatbot designed to imitate human-like conversations. These conversations utilize user prompts to send a response. The unique benefit here is that the response caters to a large set of questions and typically imitates the speaking styles of humans.

When the Bing search engine gets optimized with the OpenAI technology, the end-users can use the facility to find images without having to manually take the trouble to do so. The tech will work like the chatbot for text-related queries. But in this case, the same will be reflected for image searches in reputed and helpful search engines like Bing, which several people use worldwide.
