Terror Attack on Army Convoy in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, 4 killed

Summary: Two soldiers and two civilian porters were killed after the terrorist attack on the army convoy. The fourth attack in the week.


A terror attack took place near the line of control (LOC) in Kashmir’s Gulmarg, killing two soldiers and two civilian porters working for the army. Three soldiers got injured in the attack. 

 

This incident happened near the Nagin post at Bota Pathri, around seven kilometers from Gulmarg, the primary tourist destination. There is limited civilian movement in the area of Bota Pathri due to its proximity to the Line of Control.

 

The army officials said an army convoy passing through the region was attacked by unidentified terrorists. They opened fire and caused severe injuries to soldiers, killing four in order. The injured army officers are being treated and under observation. 

 

The incident occurred hours after Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha held a meeting to look over the security situation after previous attacks in J&K. Top Army, police, paramilitary, and intelligence officials attended the meeting.

 

Chief Minister of J&K, Omar Abdullah, expressed grief over the killing of army officers in a post, 

 

“Very unfortunate news about the attack on the army vehicles in the Bota Pathri area of north Kashmir, which has resulted in some casualties and injuries. This recent spate of attacks in Kashmir is a matter of serious concern. I condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms and send my condolences to the loved ones of the people who lost their lives. I also pray that the injured make a complete and swift recovery,” he said.
