Terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir: 7 killed in the Gandarbal area of Jammu & Kashmir.
Summary: A terrorist attack took place in the Gandarbal area of Jammu and Kashmir, killing a Kashmiri doctor, a staff member, and five laborers.
Terrorists opened fire on a construction site in the Ganderbal area of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, killing seven people, as per the reports. The casualties included a Kashmiri doctor as well as workers and employees of a contractor building a tunnel for the Srinagar-Leh national highway.
The attack was one of the deadliest ones after the one that happened in Reasi on June 9, where 9 pilgrims were killed after the bus attacked by the terrorists fell into a valley.
A doctor and six migrant laborers were killed after two terrorists allegedly opened fire on a labor camp in Ganderbal. The terror group claiming responsibility for the attack has been active since 2019.
This is the first major strike to hit the Valley in a decade, and it happened in an area where terrorism has been either nonexistent or very limited.
After being shot at by terrorists, the victims were taken to the hospital, according to Inspector General of Police VK Birdi, but they passed away from their wounds. “The incident took place in a densely forested area, but security forces swiftly reached the location and cordoned off the area,” he continued.
Jammu-Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have criticized the heinous act.
Amit Shah said in a tweet, “The dastardly terror attack on civilians in Gagangir, J&K, is a despicable act of cowardice. Those involved in this heinous act will not be spared and will face the harshest response from our security forces. At this moment of immense grief, I extend my sincerest condolences to the families of the deceased. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
