“There Will be a Setback” Says Sunil Gavaskar, “He won’t Be Usual Rishabh Pant” With His Comeback in IPL 2024.
Summary: Sunil Gavaskar shares his opinions on the comeback of DC’s star Rishabh Pant in IPL 2024.
Rishabh Pant, the Indian cricketer and star batter of Delhi Capital’s is all set to make his comeback in IPL 2024. Earlier the former Indian skipper backed Rishabh Pant to regain his place in the Indian Squad, he also said that the selectores must select the game-changer even if he is on one leg.
After the tragic car accident two years ago, Rishabh Pant is all set to play for IPL 2024. He had multiple injuries from the car crash. Now that the Indian wicketkeeper is in the last stage of his recovery, anticipation of his comeback is wild. While Rishabh Pant is still under rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCL), he will play as the impact player and only as the batter.
Whereas the former Indian Skipper Sunil Gavaskar expressed his opinions, “I'm also a big fan of him. For me the most important thing is that he should be healthy like before, so that he can come and entertain us. It will be very difficult for him and it will take some time for him to get that level of batting fluency. But good thing is that he has started training,"
Pant was the captain of Delhi Capital, however in his absence from last IPL 2023, the whole season, David Warner was announced the captain. Sunil Gavaskar feels that Pant should now be back as the captain of Delhi Capitals. This season Delhi Capital’s traded in Harry Brook, Kumar Kushagra, Shai Hop, and Tristan Stubbs during the auction. Delhi Capital’s will play their first two matches in their Visakhapatnam.
Gavaskar also said, “Knee plays an important role in batting as well as wicket keeping -- which of course he may not do in the beginning. Maybe he won't be the typical Rishabh Pant that we are used to seeing. He definitely has the capabilities to think on his feet. If he gets back with full fitness, the helm of Delhi Capital’s captaincy must be given to him. Let's stay hopeful. This season is the first of him coming back to full fitness. Let's not rush him into doing something that will be a lapse."
