During the opening of the Allu Arjun film "Pushpa-2," a stampede at the Sandhya Theatre in Chikkadpally, Hyderabad, claimed the life of a 39-year-old woman and severely injured her 9-year-old son.
This happened when a stampede-like situation broke out near the theater to get a sight of star Allu Arjun, who made a surprise visit to the venue.
An official from the Chikkadpally police said, “There was no information about their arrival until two hours before and hence no bandobast was organized. People in large numbers gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor while he was leaving the theatre, leading to the stampede.”
According to Chikkapadpally ACP L. Ramesh Kumar, the theater was filled, leaving many feeling suffocated. He said that the woman died of asphyxiation because no one attempted CPR on her. A case will be focused on the management.
Many have shared a glimpse into the stampede on X and other social media platforms. You can see a man running with the unconscious child because of the massive crowd. The man performed CPR on the child but the woman succumbed to her injuries. As per the reports, even the main gate of the theatre was broken down by the crowd.
Allu Arjun was seen leaving the premises shortly after, bounded by strong security and police. He waved at fans from the sunroof, requesting that they make way for the vehicles ahead.
