With Virat Kohli not playing in the tests, the Indian teams’ top order were struggling quite a lot on the opening day. But Yashasvi Jaiswal came out to be a star. He score 179* (not out) and saved India on the first day of the second test.

Yashasvi Jaiswal made his international debut in the test series against West Indies in July 2023, and outshined his ability by scoring a century on the first day itself. He is the third Indian Player to do so after Rohit Sharma and Prithvi Shaw.

He did again again by scoring a total of (179*) on his opening day of the second test. It;s quite commendable, since he literally saved the Indian Team. Many former cricketers praised Jaiswal for his remarkable batting. Former Indian Aakash Chopra said, “The most fantastic performance came from Yashasvi Jaiswal. How well the kid batted. He gave a lot of respect to James's bowling."

He further added, “When spin came, he hit two fours in the first over. After that, he showed why he is so special. His conversion rates of 50s to 100s for players who have 10 or more centuries in first-class cricket. He is even above sir Don Bradman at this point in time.”

Former Cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar said, “It wasn't like JImmy Anderson didn’t bowl much, he did. I don’t think a single boundary was hit against him by Jaiswal. That is maturity.”

Another former player Pragyan Ojha praised Jaiswal saying, “The mindset he showed and the flow with which he batted, he played on merit and showed today why he has such good number and why he has such a good conversion rate,”

Even the former England Skipper Alastair Cook, praised Jaiswal saying “absolutely outstanding” and he also added, “He has delivered when his team needed it. It was an inning of maturity and skill beyond his maturity of 22 years.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s stunning innings not only saved the Indian Team but also earned him praise beyond just a game. Now he will be in the spotlight for the next day to continue his outstanding performance against England.
